Age estimation has an important role in the process of human identification. Age estimation based on pulp volume of canines refers to the theory of secondary dentin apposition. The study uses CBCT image and ITK-SNAP application to get an accurate and fast result. The aim of this study is to estimate the age using the pulp volume method on canines of the Pawon Man.
The observasional analytical study was done. The study used CBCT image sample from Radiology Installation of Padjadjaran University�s Dental Hospital. As many as three canine teeth of the Pawon Man were researched upon. The inclusion criteria for canine was that the teeth still intact to the jaw, no damage and full pulp availabitlity. Mathematic model for estimating age was that Age Estimation = -2.256(Pulp Volume) + 68.17.
Age of each canine teeth was investigated giving out the results that CBCT Image Pawon 1, 4 and 5b are of the age 38, 44, and 33 years old respectively.
In conclusion, the age of Pawon Man can be estimated based on the pulp volume of canine teeth through pulp volume method. -
