  • Introduction: Ameloglyphics is a newly emerging field that studies the enamel print patterns. Enamel prints patterns are unique to each individual. The objective of this research is to describe the enamel print pattern of permanent mandibular central incisors and provide information for the need of forensic odontology. Method: A total of 34 samples were enrolled in this descriptive study using purposive sampling method. The enamel print was recorded using microphotograph technique, analysed using SourceAfis biometric-based software and then classified according to Manjunath classification. Result and Discussion: The research showed that wavy-branched enamel print pattern is the dominant enamel print found in permanent mandibular central incisors while wavy-unbranched is the least dominant sub-pattern. The most dominant enamel print pattern found in left mandibular central incisors is wavy-branched and least dominant is wavy-unbranched while in right mandibular central incisors the most dominant print pattern is wavy-branched and the least dominant print patterns are wavy-unbranched and loop. The predominant enamel print pattern found in male population is wavy-branched and the least dominant are wavy-unbranched and linear-unbranched, while in female population the predominant print pattern is wavy-branched and least dominant are wavy-unbranched and loops. The enamel print patterns are affected by genetic, movement of ameloblasts and environmental factors. Conclusion: In conclusion, enamel print patterns vary among individuals and thus the uniqueness of the enamel print could be also used as a valuable tool in forensic science for personal identification.
