Objective. The purpose of this study is to describe the frequency of maxillary 3rd molar impaction angulation in male and female of Deutero Malay based on archived digital panoramic radiograph. Methods. Simple descriptive research with cross-sectional study on the sample of collected data from a 100 sample of male and female Deutero-Malay patients with age 17 to 26 then classified based on winter�s Classification. The sample consists of digital panoramic radiograph of RSGM.
Results. For Male maxillary 3rd molar impaction 52.0% vertical position and 24% for both disto-angular and mesio-angular positions. Female maxillary 3rd molar impaction 57.0% vertical position followed by the mesio-angular position with 24.0% and disto-angular position with 19.0%. For Overall the percentage was 54.5%, vertical position, mesio-angular position with 24.0% and disto-angular position with 21.5 %.
Discussion. This may be due to the difference in developmental gem position, jaw and teeth size, race diet and genetic. Conclusion. Maxillary 3rd molar impaction between male and female is more likely to be impacted in vertical position. -
