Wettability is one of the factors that affect the surface properties of
titanium as an implant material. Wetness can be increased by modifying the
surface. This study aims to determine the surface wettability of modified
commercial pure titanium (CpTi) plates that have been modified using H2O2,
NaOCl and UV light. This study used a qualitative descriptive method consisting
of three stages: fabrication, modification and characterization. The fabrication
stage is in the form of polishing and ultrasonic cleaning with acetone and ethanol.
This was followed by a modification step in the form of giving different treatments
to each sample, including immersion in 3% H2O2 solution, immersion in 5%
NaOCl solution and UVC irradiation for 24 hours. The samples were then tested
for wettability by measuring the contact angle using a contact angle meter. The
results of this study indicate that there is a difference between the contact angle
values of the samples with and without treatment, where all of them have changed
to become hydrophilic. This research shows that the wettability of commercially
pure titanium plates can be increased by modification using H2O2, NaOCl and UV
light.
