  • Introduction: There is a lot of literature on tobacco cigarettes that shows the effect
of cigarette content in relation to the altered gingival inflammatory response. The
use of vapes or e-cigarettes is starting to spread throughout the world due to
various factors. Several studies have shown that vaping has also been associated
with changes in the gingival inflammatory response. This literature review maps
how the gingival inflammatory response in vaping users is compared to tobacco
smokers and is expected to provide additional information regarding the impact of
vaping and tobacco smoking. Methods: This type of literature review uses a scoping
review. PRISMA-Scr was used as a guideline to search and sort articles using the
criteria (P: Population) Tobacco smokers and vape users, (C: Concept) Gingival
inflammatory response in vape users and tobacco smokers, (C: Context) Smokers
and vape users of all Age, male and female all over the world. Results: There were
    6 articles, including 2 pilot studies, 2 cross-sectional studies, 1 case-control study,
and 1 observational study. The research obtained shows that there is a change in
the inflammatory response in the gingiva of tobacco smokers and vape users as
seen from the bleeding on probing (BOP) parameters, self-rated oral symptomps,
and GCF volume as well as inflammatory mediators. Conclusion: Tobacco smoking
and vaping have an effect on the gingival inflammatory response. . The
inflammatory response of tobacco smokers has a masking effect that disguises vape
inflammation, which has the potential to cause an impaired inflammatory response
    in the gingiva.
