  • Fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) has been widely applied in the field of dentistry. Nylon
    6 as a thermoplastic polymer which is biocompatible and has superior fracture resistance
    is used in research. The purpose of this study was to examine the structural and
    morphological characters of nylon 6 fiber from the wet spinning method in order to find
    alternative materials for dental direct bridge reinforcing material. This type of research is
    descriptive with five variations in sample weight of nylon 6 dissolved in formic acid and
    fabricated using the wet spinning method with water as a coagulant. The fiber was then
    characterized using Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), optical microscope,
    and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). FTIR test can confirm the presence of nylon 6
    characteristics on the fiber in the form of N-H and C=O groups at wave numbers 3295 cm−1
    dan 1635 cm−1
    . There are differences in the diameter size and morphological shape of the
    fiber with different concentrations. Nylon 6 fiber has been successfully fabricated and
    produces characteristics that can potentially be used as dental direct bridge materials.
