  • Lip print is a technique in forensic dentistry regarding the identification of a person based on characteristic arrangement of lines appearing on the lip. There are variety of lip print pattern and it has been catagorised Suzuki and Tsuchihashi into 6 types. The objective of this research is to identify the predominant lip print pattern in Chinese student population in FKG UNPAD and thus becoming a reference for the researcher in the future about the lip print pattern of Chinese population.
This research method used is descriptive analysis. The lip print was collected among the students in the campus form batch 2013 to 2016 who are Chinese descendants. Samples were taken in photograph form and was analysed by magnifying using a computer to identify the most prominent fissure that located in the primary compartments on the lips.
The research shows that 6 types of lip print pattern which is proposed by Suzuki and Tsuchihashi are found in the Chinese student population in FKG UNPAD. The least frequent lip printpattern found is Type V and the most dominant is Type II which comprises of 68.28%.
Based on the analysed data, we can conclude that Type II (branched groove) lip print pattern is the predominant lip print pattern found in the Chinese student population in FKG UNPAD while Type V (Mixed) is the least predominant one.
